Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the most important people in African American history. King lead the march to end discrimination, racism, and segregation. He had one of the most historic speeches of all time. He had a dream that our beautiful African American children would not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. Martin Luther King had a dream that our strong, respectful, independent men and women weren’t killed everyday for something they did not commit to. HE HAD A DREAM!!! He was born on January 15, 1929 and had two wonderful parents. King had to go through a lot of tough times throughout his life as a black kid before his amazing speech. One of his best friends-who was not of color- was forced not to play with Martin because he was black and his friend was white. As he grew older, every action King did was judged because he was black. Things such as education, going to college, and succeeding in life were questioned. A lot of black folks back then were not known for getting a good education and going to college, but Martin did. As he grew older, King became a baptist minister and civil rights movement leader. He had 4 amazing children. After his historic speech, King was assassinated on April 4, 1968. That is why King is one of the most important African American people in history.
